The Kampung Signage Workshop (PlangPitan) won the Good Design Indonesia 2024 award in the Community Development Program category.
In many urban neighborhoods across Indonesia, it is common to encounter handmade signs reading “Please walk your motorcycle” or “Tie your trash bags properly.” These kampung signs are more than simple public notices—they are part of a living visual identity and cultural landscape that helps sustain communal harmony. Rooted in this awareness, Fanrong Creative was entrusted to develop the branding for Ritus Liyan, a collaborative art exhibition initiated by the Airlangga Institute of Indian Ocean Crossroads (AIIOC) Surabaya. Through a Participatory Design approach, Fanrong introduced the PlangPitan Kampung Sign Design Workshop alongside the residents of Kampung Plampitan as part of the program.
Mindful Designer as Cataliyst Positive Impact
Over the past decade, the term mindful has become increasingly relevant alongside conversations surrounding work–life balance and mental health. For Fanrong Creative, however, mindfulness is not merely a trend, but a journey that began during the studio’s early years through a branding collaboration with Mindful Project Surabaya. The experience opened a deeper understanding of mindfulness—not only as a personal practice, but as a framework for creative thinking and design practice.
Matahati Tempemas - A Community Cooking Competition Initiative to Raise Awareness of Good Nutrition and Stunting Prevention.
To commemorate Indonesia’s Heroes Day on November 10th, 2025, Fanrong Creative collaborated with Universitas Ciputra through its Visual Communication Design (DKV), Culinary Business (CB), and Medical Faculty (FK) departments to initiate Matahati Tempemas. The program combined the Matahati mural initiative with a plant-based cooking competition aimed at raising awareness about nutrition and stunting prevention within Kampung Plampitan, Peneleh RW 02, Surabaya. The program series—consisting of nutrition workshops, cooking demonstrations, mural activities, and culinary competitions—was held from October 4th to November 9th, 2025, with active participation from local residents.
Ritus Liyan Book Cover Design Pinasthika Bronze Throphy
Fanrong Creative proudly received a Bronze Trophy at the Pinasthika Creative Festival for the Ritus Liyan exhibition anthology cover design in the Book Cover Design category. The recognition celebrates a design approach deeply rooted in the social and cultural context of Kampung Plampitan, Surabaya.

Driven by spiritual and social concerns surrounding the age of distraction amid rapid technological transformation, GKI Dharmo Satelit Surabaya collaborated with Fanrong Creative to initiate HADIR UTUH, a platform-based social movement encouraging more mindful worship experiences. The campaign was developed and implemented over the course of one month, from September 7th to October 2nd, 2025.
